Many mics in this price range (if getting up to the TLM103 price) that are *much* nicer in my opinion. TLM103, at least to most music recording engineers, is regarded as 'not a real Neumann' because of how thin and sibilant it is, which is nothing like what made Neumann famous (U47, U67, U87, M49, etc).... The better mics in that price range are not the most widely marketed/known ones though, that's for sure.

A Microtech Gefell is missing from this comparison. The M930 is really a good mic for VO. Some people call it "the better tlm103" as they are in the same price range and both have something in common with Neumann quality.

Honestly, it’s amazing just how good the TLM102 is! The clear winner for me. The 67 is close behind, but picks up more of the booth. The 102 is the Neumann secret weapon, it’s crazy.

V13 had more of the character I would associate with vintage recordings, known to be done using original U-47's ...as well as more modern recordings known to be done using original U-47's. The female voice doesn't seem to capitalize on the qualities as much as a harder sung male voice would.. but I find it curious that "mid-forward" was used to describe the Warm Audio mic. I find neither are as "mid-forward" as the muscular midrange of an original 47...however the V13 seemed to have more mid-muscle and attitude than the Warm... that for me, was just too "polite" sounding to the point of sounding vanilla and boring for me. The V13 sounded more "pro" by a pretty good margin IMO. I'm here because my son graduates soon and want to find him a decent LDC. So far, I'm sold on the V13... I've rented original U-47's for many years on occasion, they are anything but smooth, open, natural sounding, silky or detailed... or any other term used to describe what usually would sound "better" to most in a blindfold test.. They are edgy mics with hard , muscular midrange, gritty and grainy sounding mics with attitude and character like no other. Most modern mics would be sweet and smooth sounding by contrast. Like the difference having microphones with the smoother voices of Stevie Wonder, Sam Cooke, Ed Sheeran, Taylor Swift, etc.... and a U-47 would be more like the Joe Cocker, David Ruffin, Eric Burden,and James Brown
